^DE Wird Afghanistan in den Medien thematisiert, erscheinen in kollektiven Gedächtnissen der Bevölkerung Bilder von Terror, Angst und Unterdrückung. Dass das kollektive Gedächtnis sich nahezu ausschliesslich auf derartige Stereotypen beschränkt, liegt unter anderem daran, dass in den letzten fünf Jahrzenten gravierende politische und militärische Ereignisse das Land immer wieder dominierten. Die anhaltenden Konflikte und die sich mitbringende Zerstörung und Flucht lassen die Menschen in und aus Afghanistan vor Trümmern und Fragmenten ihrer Geschichte und Kultur stehen.
Beim Versuch, diese Fragmente zusammenzubringen, entstand diese Publikation. Dabei legte ich meinen Fokus auf die visuelle Darstellung dieser Fragmente bzw. Bruchstücke. Entstanden ist ein ungebundenes Editorial Design mit Interviews, Sammlungen, Kunstwerken und kulturellen Einblicken.
Dieses Medium habe ich gewählt, da die losen Blätter und auch die verschiedenen Formate einerseits die Wiederholung, auf die ich vermehrt getroffen bin und andererseits auch das Gefühl der Fragilität, welches ich während der Suche empfand, widerspiegeln. Die Bogen sind alphabetisch sortiert und bringen die Fragmente so zusammen.


^EN When Afghanistan is discussed in the media, images of terror, fear and oppression appear in the collective memories of the population. The fact that the collective memory is almost exclusively limited to such stereotypes is partly due to the fact that serious political and military events have repeatedly dominated the country over the past five decades. The ongoing conflicts and the accompanying destruction and flight leave the people in and from Afghanistan facing rubble and fragments of their history and culture.
In trying to bring these fragments together, this publication came into being. My focus was on the visual representation of these fragments. The result is an unbound editorial design with interviews, collections, artwork, and cultural insights.
I chose this medium because the loose sheets and also the different formats reflect on the one hand the repetition I encountered more and on the other hand also the feeling of fragility I felt during the search. The sheets are sorted alphabetically and thus bring the fragments together.

^DE Anlässlich der ersten Zurich Design Weeks, wurde eine öffentliche Plakatausstellung auf den Kulturplakatsäulen in Zürich organisiert. Die Ausstellung setzt sich aus 39 Sujets von 39 Grafiker:innen, Illustrator:innen und Designer:innen zusammen, die jeweils an 4 Plakatsäulen während den 3 Wochen der Zurich Design Weeks hängen.
 

^EN On the occasion of the first Zurich Design Weeks, a public poster exhibition was organized on the culture poster pillars in Zurich. The exhibition consists of 39 subjects by 39 graphic artists, illustrators and designers, each hanging on 4 poster columns during the 3 weeks of the Zurich Design Weeks.

^DE Ich habe an die Proteste von Pussy Riot aus Moskau angedockt. Jedoch habe ich hier den Protest-Charakter in den Hintergrund gerückt und mit der Pose statt dessen die Erschöpfung nach vielen Jahren des Kampfes symbolisiert.


^EN I have docked to the protests of Pussy Riot from Moscow. However, here I have moved the protest character into the background and symbolized with the pose instead the exhaustion after many years of struggle.
